What’s happening in the Gulf Coast oil spill? What are we doing?
UPDATE - June 3/2010 - Day 46 - Is this a man made disaster, YES, it’s the worst environmental catastrophe in modern history!
“What are we doing?” Will the hole ever get plugged? Lost 11 workers, what about them? I comment on all of these issues and more. We need something now to help the people of the Gulf Coast as well, do it now!
UPDATE - June 14/2010 - Day 56
One of the real heroes of this terrible, man made disaster has to be Parish President Billy Nungesser, (below right) of the Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana. You are representing/fighting for your people in the area and we commend you for your service, well done and best of luck. We have been very touched by your reports nightly on Anderson Cooper (CNN) and you seem to be the only voice of reason. Don’t let them wear you down, keep fighting.
We shall again, say prayers for you all tonight.

Parish President Billy Nungesser
The real tragedy of the Gulf Coast Oil spill is nature and the innocent wildlife it affects.
It doesn’t seem we have learned from previous tragedies and we all remember the Exxon Valdez decades ago. We didn’t stop transporting oil or drilling, but maybe they will now? I doubt it, and more of nature will suffer the consequences. This is only the beginning, what is going to happen in the next month, year, decade? Even worse, 11 workers were killed in this tragedy. (see below)
Will we ever learn?
“What are we doing?”UPDATE - June 10/2010 - Which oil company has the most violation by the agency around the world that monitors such violations? Any guesses? Yes you are right it’s BP. BP has 760 egregious and 69 willful (which is the next most serious) violations. The next company on the list that has the most is Sunoco with 8, yes only eight violations?
You can see the story on Rick’s List on CNN by CLICKING HERE.
UPDATE - May 21/2010 - Does anyone know how many current oil wells are operating right now in the Gulf Coast? I figured maybe 150-200 but I just learned there are 4000, yes 4000.
“What are we doing?”
Here’s a healthy dragon fly …Another very sad part of this Gulf Oil spill is that the “main stream media” (most) have not disclosed the names of those 11 workers killed in the tragic accident.
Here they are …
Jason Anderson, Aaron Dale Burkeen
Donald Clark, Stephen Curtis
Roy Wyatt Kemp
Karl Kleppinger
Gordon Jones (M-I SWACO) Family on Anderson Cooper (CNN)
Blair Manuel (M-I SWACO)
Dewey Revette
Shane Roshto
Adam Weise
We offer our most sincere condolences to their Families and friends and don’t understand why the media is not talking about these workers that were killed. We shall pray for them tonight.
UPDATE - May 27/2010 (11PM) I just added this about the 11 workers killed in the Gulf Oil spill this morning and was surprised to see them talking about it on Anderson Cooper tonight on CNN.One strange thing is that the workers receive little money (some kind of settlement) because there is a law that when someone dies on the high seas (Death on the high seas act passed in 1920), they don’t have the same rights as someone who dies on land. From what I saw, this was put into effect just after the Titanic sank. HUH … Very sad indeed.
Why are they NOT sucking oil (skimmers) from the surface?
UPDATE - June 4/2010 - Day 46 I was reading a report yesterday that there was a spill in the Middle East several years ago and immediately they put some tankers in the ocean and started sucking (skimming) up the oil from the surface. Why is this not being done in the Gulf Coast?
The explanation I read was that it’s because they don’t want to try something, “that they didn’t INVENT,” let’s ask the tough questions of BP, and ask why this in not being done.
