First NHL hockey game in "3D" broadcast across...
TORONTO - December 13/2010 - “The Leafs won tonight” (Saturday) against Montreal Canadiens, said one excited hockey fan as they walked out of the Air Canada Centre (ACC) and his friend said “Maybe it’s because it was in 3D” as they beat Canadiens 3-1 in the first ever NHL 3D game across Canada on CBC. There was a big hype as it was announced recently that the game...

Well it’s not real news, but it will lighten your day, while you go through the lineup scans at the airport. TORONTO - It has been brought to our attention at First City Bank of Toronto that banking customers have been sneaking into the bank with suspected explosive devices and with this, we felt it necessary to bring in a new screening procedure for all banking customers and start...

Toronto cops have been underfire for unpayed...
Recently Toronto Police Force (TPS) has been underfire for not paying taxes with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) …. for their parking privileges (prime downtown locations) at police stations. What I have heard officers, off duty are allowed to park in the police stations downtown when they visit the city for unrelated police events, for free. They also do it at Toronto Fire stations. ...

G20 - The untold story - How are the young cops...
After all the talk in the last few days, I suspect no-one really cares, but I often wonder what many of these young officers from small towns across Ontario and CANADA are coping with being in Toronto for this G20 summit. What would they say about Torontonomo Bay (Detention Centre) I never noticed it before but this RCMP officer does not have any name tag on his uniform, it was brought to my...

It's a sad day for Toronto and CANADA - G20
“The world was watching” UPDATE June 29/2010 - Toronto Star - Legal “Charter Challenge.” Sadly this is not over yet, about 1000 citizens gathered at a peaceful demonstration in front of Police Headquarters last night chanting and protesting the arrest of many innocent people who were caught up in the sweep. Check out this YouTube video of the rioting on Saturday during...

Good'ol Maple Leaf Gardens.
Visit my OPERA BLOG - Here - many more pics and stories, Daniel. They haven’t played hockey there for about 10-15 years, but yes it is still standing. About five years ago Loblaw grocery chain bought the old historic building and were planning on changing it to a grocery store but never got around to it. It was just announced a few weeks ago that they finally made a decision to go ahead...

UPDATE - June 3/2010 - Day 46 - Is this a man made disaster, YES, it’s the worst environmental catastrophe in modern history! “What are we doing?” Will the hole ever get plugged? Lost 11 workers, what about them? I comment on all of these issues and more. We need something now to help the people of the Gulf Coast as well, do it now! UPDATE - June 14/2010 - Day 56  One of...

Electric bikes are quite the rage now.
I see a lot more of these electric bikes (scooters)  out in full force the last week or so. They are inexpensive (no insurance required) and as the rider told me “they go about 60-80 km per charge” which isn’t too bad for scooting around town. Get my take on biking in Toronto < —— Click HERE They don’t even need a license plate but I’m sure the...

This hotel I've "never" visited and don't want to.
This is the Don Jail in downtown Toronto and this section is actually closed now but still standing. They did hang prisoners here back in the 1950’s but not anymore. I think it is called a historic site now but not sure why. Daniel .. Toronto, CANADA Visit my FULL OPERA BLOG - CLICK HERE

Chateau Frontenac Quebec City, Quebec
Whenever I go the Winter Carnival in Quebec City I always stay at this famous hotel on the banks of the St. Lawrence river. It looks like a castle and is part of the chain that was built across Canada many years ago by the Canadian Pacific Railway. It is now operated by the Canadian Company Fairmont Hotel which have resorts all around the world and they operate out of Toronto. Daniel .....

Toronto streetcar and no snow still, December...
Here’s a streetcar and if you can believe it we still don’t have any snow yet and it’s the end of December 2009. Just a couple hours north of Toronto in Bracebridge last week they got 4 FEET of snow in one night but nothing here yet. We had no snow in November either and it’s the first time in 174 years that we had no snow in the month of November. But it is cold enough...

–  This is a very old building built at the turn of the century in downtown and it has been kept up and used now as a community help centre for the public. It is right up against the Eaton Centre a new super mall well maybe not new but within the last 20 years. When they built the mall it was...

What the heck is that?
Well actually it’s a snow/ice melter. It’s about the size of a tractor trailer and they scoop snow/ice into it’s belly and it melts it all and the water pours out into the street drain. We don’t use it a lot in Toronto anymore but they loan it to our friends in Buffalo who get hit 10 times harder than us each winter. Toronto has two of them and we haven’t had to use...

Ok I think I got it now.
Just new here, still learning. I’m trying to do the embedding but not really sure if it’s necessary or really what it is? It seems I can just put pics in here with the link from photobucket. If anyone knows let me know what embedding is and how I can do it? By the way it’s not a spaceship it’s our City Hall in downtown with a nice skating rink like Rockefeller Center. ...

Olympic torch run hits Toronto
It’s actually the Olympic Torch run that passed through Toronto last week and it was delayed because of an Indian land claim protest. That’s what is great about Canada/USA, we allow protest and dissent which makes our countries the best in the world. The Olympics start in February 2010 in Vancouver and we can hardly wait for those GOLD metals. Go Canada Go…. Daniel .....
